GOD'S ENTERTAINMENT
God’s Entertainment is a Vienna based performance collective that has been working in the fields of performance, happening, visual art and sound on and off the theatre stages since 2006. God’s Entertainment conducts interdisciplinary research on political and social topics of our time with changing line-ups. Their members are represented in areas such as fashion design, media education, philosophy and theatre studies to name a few. And somehow, once in, you stay with God's Entertainment for life.
Dealing with questions of cultural identity and political participation, the lack of representation, and with the shifting of perspectives, God’s Entertainment create dense theatrical experiences, trying to transcend the classical theatre conventions again and again. Their performances rub salt into the wounds of social maladies, constantly striving to either subvert or exceed the expectations of the audience. As a playing field, they not only use the theatre spaces; actions are constantly taking place in public, and the inclusion of the audience is one of their most striking characteristics and has a decisive influence on their work.
Their performances and exhibitions have been displayed in Austria and throughout Europe, a.o. brut, HAU, Sophiensaele, Kampnagel, donaufestival, Wiener Festwochen, Spielart Festival Munich, Divus Prague, Liverpool Biennale, Impulstanz – Vienna International Dance Festival, Innsbruck International, Drugo More Rijeka.
