THE MYTH: LAST DAY
NETTI NÜGANEN
2022
The Myth: last day is centred around a prefabricated archaeological mine, where a pseudo-archaeologist digs herself out of the ground. Being both the researcher and the subject, the investigator and the suspect, she playfully attaches stories to the everyday objects that she is excavating. In a doomsday-concert, the researcher becomes a chaotic metalhead, animating the ruins, exploring reasons to project towards the future and stay on the surface. The piece intertwines reality and fiction and creates myths, thereby constructing speculative pasts and futures. The Myth: last day has won the prize for the best Estonian performing arts production in 2022.
