1GUH WATCH brings Dancehall to the stage of contemporary dance. How can this ‘social dance’ best be translated into the theatre space? For her latest collaborative work, choreographer Tamara Alegre has decided to present Dancehall in its raw essence through its creators themselves, teaming up with international stars of the scene such as Dynamic Legends, Miss Rose, Dj Pappi and Finnish photographer eye juice. With additional guests, they showcase the rich, detailed and community-based choreographic dance vocabulary. Together they celebrate the powerful creativity and unity that characterises the everyday emotions, struggles and triumphs of Dancehall.
